UHNM patients know it is OK to Ask

An initiative urging patients at Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital to find out more about their conditions and treatment is being hailed as an example of national best practice. Senior delegates are visiting University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust to see how the project – called “It’s OK to Ask” – is engaging patients, involving them in their own care and aims to achieve better outcomes.

Promotion of the campaign encourages patients to ask three key questions:

• What is my main problem?

• What do I need to do?

• Why is it important that I do this?
